~ Dr. Seuss, Green Eggs and Ham
For the month of November, I’d like to give thanks to some of my favorite books. Key word being some because unfortunately there isn’t enough days to honor all the books I love. So I’ve issued myself the challenge to do thirty days of thanks for books… and today I am thankful for…
Day 29 – Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss
Do you like green eggs and ham? Maybe if you tried them with a fox or in a box… I already did one Dr. Seuss book, which is my all-time favorite of his, but I absolutely had to include this one too because it makes me utterly thankful for my mom. Every night, no matter how tired, late or sick she was, she would always read to me. Always. And this was one of my favorite books to have her read (Harold and the Purple Crayon, the Poky Little Puppy, or Where the Wild Things Are were a few other good ones). No matter how may times I asked her or how many nights in a row I demanded this book, she would always read it to me. I’m so thankful she did too, because I credit her for starting me on my love of books. Without her, who knows what would have happened.
p.s. Fun fact… Dr. Seuss used just fifty different words to complete this book… crazy!
